Be part of an amazing team delivering the biggest SUP event in the UK!
We rely on volunteers for the Head of the Dart to go ahead every year, and there are so many benefits to joining our volunteering team:
- A guaranteed race spot for the following year.
- A free event t-shirt.
- Free food and drink.
- Fun, laughter and camaraderie.
- Event experience for your career or a qualification.
- A chance to be involved if you’re injured and unable to race.
“I had a fantastic time volunteering. It was a well organised event and clear what volunteers needed to do. We were well looked after. The best part was helping all the paddlers on and off the water providing support and encouragement and a big well done at the finish. It was fantastic to see all the smiles.”
The event day is long but in return you get a fun, action-packed day full of rewards.

What’s required?
Volunteers are needed from 6am until about 5pm on race day, as well as for an online briefing in advance (normally three or four days before the event).
You’ll also need your own transport. With the start and finish points being 45 minutes apart by car, there are a number of logistical challenges to the race preparations. We’re therefore looking for people to fill several different volunteer roles. Use the link below to find out more or apply.
